Day 1 - Early departure from the Algarve towards Lisbon, passing through the Alentejo province.
Upon arrival in Lisbon, cross the 25th April bridge over the Tagus river and start a guided visit of the Jerónimos Monastery, the Monument of the Discoveries, Belem Tower, landmarks of the Portuguese Discoveries, which led to the discovery of “new worlds” and the crossing of the seas. Enjoy free time and a nice lunch in the city center…. In the afternoon, guided visit of Alfama and St. George’s castle. Overnight in a nice hotel (***) in Lisbon.
OPTIONAL night out in a typical Fado restaurant (Fado show and dinner).
Day 2 - After breakfast in the hotel, drive over towards Lisbon outskirts, and visit the town center of Sintra and the Palácio Nacional de Sintra. The medieval styled National Palace is distinctive due to its two giant chimneys. Inside are beautifully decorated staterooms and a history that stretches from the 15th century. Next visit Cabo da Roca, a wild and rugged headland that marks the most westerly point of mainland Europe. The windswept cliffs of Cabo da Roca were believed to be the edge of the world up until the up until the late 14th century and the spectacular desolate scenery adds to the allure of the location. From the cape, drive back to Cascais affectionately referred to as the "Town of Kings and Fishes" due to the historic royal connection and the large fishing fleet that was once the main industry before the advent of tourism. Today, the beach resort could be best described as the Hollywood of Portugal, home to Portugal’s rich and famous, with expensive houses lining the suburbs and multi-million-pound yachts moored in the marina and Estoril well known due to the famous Casino nights and gambling. Return to the Algarve.
